Kırıkkale is a city in the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey.

Kırıkkale doesn't have a long history. It was founded in 1925 during the Republic Period. First it was one of the provinces of Ankara and it became an official city in 1989.

Located in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey, Kırıkkale is situated 80 km east of Ankara and surrounded by the cities Çankırı on the north, Çorum on the northeast, Yozgat on the east, Kırşehir on the southeast and Ankara on the south and west.

Kırıkkale's local cuisine is rich and mostly based on a combination of agricultural products and meat. Grilled cutlet, fried food, stewed and roasted meats are the widespread meat meals within the region as well as the pastries like bazlama, gözleme, alazlama, kömbe and katmer. Some of the most famous dishes are; flour tarhana, tarhana with yogurt, sızgıt, bread meal (guymak), madımak, pelte, bulgur pilaf with meat.
