Alaçatı is a town of İzmir Province, on the Aegean coast of Turkey.

In the ancient times, it's believed that Alaçatı region was called "Agrilia". Ionians lived in this region in the 7th century B.C. and their golden period was extended by the Romans which effected the early days of Christianity and the birth of the Byzantine art. Ottomans took the control of Alaçatı around the 14th century and by then Alaçatı was referred as a "Yaya-Müsellem" (Infantry-cavalry) type of village which was a type of settlement in direct extension of the army structure. The Greek population was high (reached 12.000 with a Greek majority) in the region and they used to call it; the village of "Alatzata". The village was an an important center of production and trade because of its vineyards and wines. After the Balkan Wars of 1912-1913, most of the Greeks immigrated to Greece. And with the population exchange agreement between Turkey and Greece in 1923, Alaçatı's population changed once again.
Located on the Aegean coast of Turkey, Alaçatı township is a part of the district of Çeşme within Turkey's İzmir Province. The town of Alaçatı is located on the "narrow waist" Çeşme Peninsula, at a distance of 3 km from the sea and 70 km from Izmir.
The closest airport is within Izmir. Adnan Menderes Airport (international flights available) is located at a distance of 90 km.
No trains to Alaçatı.
For those who depart from İstanbul with their own vehicles can take the Bandırma port and the 340 km road through Balıkesir, Manisa and İzmir which will take about 4-5 hours to reach Alaçatı.
There are buses to Izmir from every direction in Turkey. The bus ride to Alaçatı from İzmir takes only an hour.
Sea connection via private boats is available and yachts can dock directly at Alaçatı marina which is located at 38°15'N, 26°23'E.
You can rent a car in Izmir and drive around Alaçatı to discover the bays and beaches. The traffic code for Alaçatı is the same with Izmir 35.
There are minibuses which run with cheap fares.
The village center is very small and can be covered by walking.
