    Hi

I'm planning a trip to either Istanbul or Ankara. I'm going in September with a large group of friends and number one priority is nightlife. I have heard mixed stories about the nightlife in Istanbul and Ankara. Some good, some bad. Which is the better out of the two for nightlife? Where are the best bars and clubs?

    Please let me know

I live in Turkey and my Turkish. My advice if you want to enjoy Istanbul should be preferred. There is no nightlife in ankara already! You should visit to Ankara in the morning. You can visit both Istanbul night and morning. After day 12 to start in Istanbul.

I am also very interested in the nightlife of Turkey, and almost all of my Turkish friends have recommended Istanbul for nightlife. They say it is really amazing. If anyone does have some recommendations for clubs I would appreciate it!

We prefer "Turkish Raki" but it is OK to buy us a bottle of cold "Efes" beer to keep us working

In Taksim, Beyoglu, there is this street(ish) place called NEVIZADE. Ask for it. There, you can find some clubs, and many bars. Just pick one depending on your mood :) I'd recommend Jolly-Joker Balans though. http://www.jollyjokerbalans.com

    Hi

While Istanbul has a colourful and lively night life, it has has many tourist traps and rather dodgy places. I'd definitely research on where to go/what to do before I'd go out.

For a brief & compact overview of Istanbul night life see this link here. It gives a nice first impression of what to expect.

A nice restaurant is the Hamdi et Lokantasi (literally: Hamdi meat restaurant) in Eminonu. The restaurant is fairly expensive but it offers great traditional Turkish food such as kebabs, as well as fantastic views. It is located in a five (?) story building and if you book in advance, request seating on the top floor. It is surrounded by glass and affords breathtaking views of the New Mosque, the Golden Horn, Galata Bridge, the Bosphorous, and the Asian side.

    Hello Friends...

Turkey is a fabulous destination to enjoy the every aspect of traveling....Istanbul or Ankara both are popular places....But if you want to enjoy the nightlife to its full extent then i will suggest you to go for "Istanbul"....here the bars and pubs offer a spectacular life....Dancing and enjoying with your friends will really make your time remarkable..

    Hi,
I had never visited nightlife. But I heard that Istanbul is the best and beautiful place for nightlife. There is no nightlife like Istanbul in Ankara.

Topkapi Palace was incredible. The crown jewel of the Ottoman Empire! Wow there was so much history here. I highly recommend it.

Do they serve hard liquor at the bars there? I heard a rumor that they only serve beer and wine.

That street near Taksim is amazing really :) Speaking about the alchohol type you can find everything may be not in all bars but most of them are serving not only wine and beer.
