Hi everyone,
I'm fairly new to the traveling game and am planning a trip for next year around Turkey. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice about what to do about money (e.g. taking travellers cheques, credit cards etc.) Any advice would be great.
Cheers

use you credit cards. This way you save money, changing your money into lira cost more money. Also you can keep track of what you spent
Travelers checks are only easy to use in the hotels.
Forget the idea of travelers checksPosted 5 years ago # -
I agree with skip, in Turkey traveler's checks are useless.
My experience in Turkey with them was not good. most of the merchants
prefered money, even US dollars.
Do not get me wrong, you can use them, it just a little trouble.Posted 5 years ago # -
You can exchange your money into Lira without commission in beyo?lu or sultanahmet. in airport dont exchange all your money because most of the time they charge commissions..Posted 3 years ago #

using credit card can be tricky too.
you will be charged in turkish lira and then your bank will charge the worst currency rate to your card.
the best way is changing your currency to turkish lira. there are always commissions when you are changing currency but it is usually very low. %0.01 or %0.03.
be carefull it is not %1 or %3.
some exchange offices do this trick to scam tourists.Posted 3 years ago #
