I am planning on going to Turkey in May and stay in Istanbul for about 8 days and then go to Paris. I am wondering if 8 days is enough in Istanbul for someone who is visiting first time? I would like to see all the monumnets, palaces and mosques and make several trips to the Grande Bazaar. I appreciate your feedback.
Is Eight days enough for Istanbul?

8 days is more than enough.
Do not skip to take the Bosphorus boat tour.
Not the private ones. Take the public ones.Posted 2 years ago # -
Istanbul is a beautiful city and tourist destination. It has many wonderful and colorful attractions for visitors. The eight days time is sufficient for roaming around and exploring the city. I wish you will find more pleasure and fun in this trip.

Hi,
I am also planning to stay in Istanbul for about 8 days (first time visit) in mid November. Do you think the weather will still be OK at that time? I hope to be able to cover all the usual attractions.
Cheers!

We prefer "Turkish Raki" but it is OK to buy us a bottle of cold "Efes" beer to keep us workingPosted 1 year ago # -
Hi there!I just came back from an awesome 2-week backpacking trip across Turkey (1st - 13th Dec 10) and the weather was great most of the time. I even did paragliding at Oludeniz and it was sunny and bright and the sky was clear, just like spring/summer! it was awesome! tesekkur turkiye!
anyway 8 days is ok but I would recommend 11 - 13 days if you want to cover the major highlights like istanbul, ephesus, pamukkale, southern mediterranean like fethiye/oludeniz/antalya and goreme.

For one of the largest cities in the world I´m sure 8 days is not enough but there are ways to swing it. Anyone have any off the beaten path suggestions, something for an adventurous visitor?

I Can say yes, If you want to visit only some good places and don't want to see some common places then eight days are enough for visiting Istanbul completely. Even 6 days are enough if you travel by air in Istanbul but if you travel through the train and buses then 8 days are enough.

I would say that 8 days is even more than you actually need...don't be surprise if you get bored.

To see historical and cultural sides of Istanbul, 8 days would be enough. You should stay in the Old City Center to walk around. 2 days for Old City; 1 day for New City and Palaces on the Bosporus; 1 day Bosporus; 1 day Prince Islands; 1 day surroundings with Golden Horn; 1 day Grand-Spice Bazaar and old houses; 1 day Asian side would be enough.
Enjoy Turkey!

8 days are more than enough. You may need to have day trips to Canakkale, Edirne, Bursa including Iznik.
