    Hi,
My wife and I are travelling on a tour to Turkey in December in going to Instanbul, Canakkale, Pergamon, Kusadasi, Pamukkale, Konya, Cappadocia and Ankara.

I just want to learn how is the weather in December?
Is it cold in the day and night? Windy ? Rains?

What do i need to bring for my trip?
    Is there snow?

december is the middle of the winter and it is usually very cold.
you should expect snow in central anatolia and rain on the west.
bring rain coat and some warm clothes and boots.
hoh hoh hoh santa will be there:)

In rare years, the warmth and pleasantness of a good November will stretch into early December.

Usually, however, the weather is chilly throughout the country, though milder along the Mediterranean coast.

In Istanbul, many days will be cloudy, with rain. You will probably enjoy some brisk, chill, sunny days as well. It is unusual to have frost in the city, and any dusting of snow—very pretty!—soon melts.

You must expect some rain, perhaps heavy, anywhere in Turkey. In Central Anatolia and eastern Turkey, there will most probably be some snow, particularly at the higher elevations (although in 2008, global warming seems to have melted the snowcap on the volcanic peak of Mount Erciyes in Cappadocia for the first time in living memory.)

Along the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, snow is very unlikely. In the mountains of eastern Turkey, there will certainly be snow, sometimes closing roads.

Perhaps you are thinking of Christmas in Turkey. Well with average highs of 12 degrees in the south, it will be a lot warmer than Christmas in the UK.

    Great advice on Turkey vacations

I was in Turkey early december last year (2010) and the weather was still good. like 16-20 c. most of the time it didnt rain except for a few days towards the end of my trip when the weather was a bit horrible, raining all day and freezing cold. other than that i could just put on a jacket and walk down the street feeling comfortable enough.

Of course, you must spend some time in Istanbul. It’s a fascinating city – the Old Town is great with bath-houses, markets and the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia but also the New Town is pretty interesting and a much better insight into modern Turkey.

Aside from that, you MUST go to Ephesus – the best-preserved Graeco-Roman city in the Eastern Mediterranean – and Cappadocia – for fantastic rock formations and underground cities..

    have a great holiday..

    thanks.......

South-eastern Greece has the best climate. The average day temperature varies from 25 degrees Celsius in October to about 16 degrees in December. In the western parts of Greece and Turkey you can expect more rain. I highly recommend Greece.
hope u would have a great time there..
    thanks...

I have lived in Didim for three years and on only two nights has the temperature dropped to freezing. Most of the rain here is in January and February and during Christmas 2009 the temperature was in the 20's.
You are travelling over a large area (the nearest to where I am is Kusadasi)and so can expect different weather in different locations.

So what is the average temperature during the month of December? And I read about the rain, does it rain regularly during that month?

    Hi,

In December, In Istanbul you will get so much cold. Weather is full from cold and rainy. That time warm winter cloths, rainfest shooes are much needed. According to me best travel time is before December, January.
