Hi everyone! We are planning a 4-day trip to Istanbul in July. I have narrowed down some hotels, and before I contact the travel agents, I wanted your feedback.

I want to stay at nice 5-stars - our budget doesn't stretch to the Ciragan Palace or Four Seasons, but we were hoping for nice hotels a step below that. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Instead of 5 stars, there are lots of boutique hotels in and around Sultanahmet area. I wouldn't stay in a 5 star in Istanbul unless you are planning a business trip.

I totally (and personally of course) agree with Kemal.. There are beautiful small boutique hotels at Sultanahmet region (hippodromme). The thing is it would be good to have some references about the quality of the service at the hotel to stay in.

Because the facility may be "handsome looking" from outside but what happens if you are disappointed with the quality of the service when you check in.

I would personally like to suggest one which belongs to a very good friend's sister (very disciplined and successful business lady and all). It is called the Arena Hotel. I will put links below. It was made into a hotel form a former Ottoman House and all and it reflects tradition. Moreover you can find traditional Turkish food (from hygienic and clean kitchen .. which is a very important thing to look for in Turkey especially)

    http://www.arenahotel.com/

you can watch a video about the hotel in this link

Be sure to check our Istanbul travel guide section.

We prefer "Turkish Raki" but it is OK to buy us a bottle of cold "Efes" beer to keep us working

I have stayed in the Ottoman Hotel Imperial for a week. It was my best stay ever. There was peaceful ambiance with great dinning experience. And it's also in my budget.

Hotels in Istanbul have come a long way since the days of the hippy trail, when the budget traveler was looking for a slice of the East, an exotic smoke and a cheap bed.I m also looking forward to such a good hotel.

The Hotel Sultania in Istanbul is a great place to stay if you want some luxury. The rooms here are palatial with great design and decoration you get a real feel for the Orient. If you have the money to spend I would definitely recommend it for your whole stay or just a night or two and live like a Sultan!

    Hi

Istanbul offers hostel dorm beds for as little as €16 per person, decent air-conditioned double rooms with private bath from €50 to €500 a night, and excellent values in short-term rental apartments/flats to let (for as few as two nights).

Most of the very expensive hotel rooms are far from the major sights, and some of the best values are mere steps away from what you'll want to see and do. So choose your location carefully!

I think were just going to stay at the best western, or another economy priced hotel. We won't be staying in the room for very long, so it really doesn't matter if it's the nicest in Istanbul. We prefer one that is located in central Istanbul so we won't have to worry about transportation.

Apparently there are a ton of hotels around Istanbul that I was unaware of. the last time we stayed there we were at the Hilton and paid a fortune to stay there. I would honestly rather of stayed at the cheapest hotel because we were out so much that we only used our room to sleep in. The one thing good about staying at a nice hotel is that we met a lot of people form the West that were also there on vacation.

Luxurious rooms here with a great design and decor to get a real sense of the Orient. If you have money to spend I would definitely recommend to stay entirely or just a night or two.

First of all you need to define your budget. In Old City of Istanbul there are a few 5 star hotels as you mentioned. Four Seasons Hotel Sultanahmet, Legacy Ottoman Hotel and Crowne Plaza Old City Hotel which is ex Merit Antique Hotel. The best one is of course Four Seasons hotel sultanahmet.
For boutique hotels, I highly recommend you to use tripadvisor reviews and set your budget. There are hundreds and hundreds boutique hotel there. I am sure after defining your budget per room per night, you will easily your hotel.

    Check for tripadvisor reviews

As far as luxury goes, about the only thing I do is... I go first class all the way. I live on the road, so when I'm out there, I'm getting the nice hotel suite, I'm getting the luxury car, I'm eating the good food, and I make sure I take care of myself on the road.
