christmas in Turkey
-
We are a couple visiting Turkey between 23rd - 30th December, and have already booked flights and hotels using the vast amounts of information elsewhere on the site. We have visited various areas in Turkey on previous occassions, but this will be our first visit to Istanbul.
Would I still be right in expecting some facilities such as transport etc. to be running at less than peak levels, or is it really business as usual?
Are tourist numbers high - as suggested by peak rates at most hotels?
Any advicePosted 8 months ago # -
Christmas actually does not mean anything in Turkey. Turkey's population is mostly muslim and they dont celebrate christmas.
On the other hand New Year's eve is special. You can expect lots of crowd on New Year's Eve in Istanbul but you wont be in Itsanbul on that day.23rd - 30th December, you wont feel any difference during your holiday.

The number of tourists will be less during that period actually. My suggestion would be Turkish Bath in the Sirkeci Area. That will deffinately feel well at that time. Don't forget to drink your lime soda after the bath :)
