hi everyone,

I am planning to go to Turkey in September and am looking for firsthand advice with regard to trekking in lycia
My general questions:
- What are the general experiences?
- What about guides? Is it easy and worth to hire guides for several days?
- Do I have to bring my own tent?
- What about food on multiple-days treks? Can food be bought from villagers?
- And what about water? Where is it usually possible to get water?

Specific questions:
- Who has done the lycia-trek and can share the experiences?
- Who was trekking in lycia and give me some advice?

Besides, can anybody share some experiences about travelling in Turkey

Thank you all,

Hi all, well I've finally locked in my major routes for the trip starting in late september. There is only one hurdle. I wish to travel from Egypt to Turkey via Israel. I'm concerned with
A: Only being able to organise a visa for Syria from home, Australia and it will only last 3 months. That is no good.
B: getting turned away at the border.

Does anyone know of a ferry from Israel to Turkey?

Any help would be greatly received..

Cheers,

prepare yourself for cold weather especially around erzurum. travelling with buses is easy. you can find buses almost anywhere anytime. but do not take bus between antalya - erzurum or istanbul - erzurum. both will take around 24 hours and it is not fun after couple of hours. flights are reasonable especially if you book early (almost cheap as bus trip).
you will probably visit yusufeli, go to the restaurant right by the river (i dont remember the name) and drink lots of raki. eat "cag kebab" in the morning (guaranteed heart attack but delicious)

White water rafting is good in september. I presume you are going to KopruluKanyon in Antalya.
Travelling around is easy. There are so many bus companies. You can book a day or two earlier. Going to Erzurum is long way from istanbul or antalya. However night buses are better to spend time sleeping.

Have fun in Turkey

I think everywhere in Turkey is almost as cheap as the other cities. There is no major difference. You'll find everything from fashion clothing to alcohol very cheap. It also depends on what kind of place you would like to see. you could want to see a historical place or a place where you can have fun and relax..

I'm travelling to turkey sept/ oct and would like someone to travel with for some of the time. Want to come with me? Why not!? It's cheaper and more fun!! I haven't booked my tickets yet but would like to arrive mid/ late sept and maybe do a tour when I first arrive.

My interests are trekking doing a river trip, boat cruises and diving, maybe a train journey if it works, hikking etc etc

I'm a young female traveller from Ireland on a budget. Let's do it!
